History & IT (Download the complete site) : Students will investigate how news was communicated in 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th Century, they will present a sample of
a news bulleting from each era and write a short description of how the
news was communicated to others. They will create a presentation using a visual presentation, web or power point. The class will be allocated a lesson (1,2,3 or 4) they will then spilt into three groups, and editor will be elected for each group and over the course of two class periods, students will complete a lesson, and will complete all four lesson topics over eight periods, students will have the opportunity to become an editor, but students may not be an editor on more that two presentations. Students should investigate how technology of the day was used to influence social opinion for the lesson allocated. They will discuss the media available for their allocated lesson period and will design and write out the news in newspaper headline for each section, print, radio, tv, computers. One or two from the group will present the news to the class as it might have been presented in that period. Step one will be to write a news sheet declaring an outbreak of a major disease, war or event as it would have been in that century. On line Evaluation Form |

History & IT Radio | Lesson 2 (Radio) Students will investigate how news was communicated in the 20th Century, Step one will be to write a news sheet declaring an outbreak or start of a war, this will be read to the groups as a newsroom presentation. |

History & IT Computers | Lesson 4 (Computers) Students will investigate the way news was used on computers from the early days of computers to today’s lap tops, and will look at Email as a news source |
