Life Skills

Its about you

Its all about YOU

1. The most important person is you, at no point is anyone as important because only you can control your destiny.

2. Give your undivided attention when talking to and when listening to other people.

3. Never assume that you know more than the other person, you may be surprised at how much they actually know.

4. Avoid (Schadenfreude*) (I call this "shady friend" it actually means "harm joy" German.) is when we laugh at someone else's misfortune, so don't be Immature - think how would you feel if you were the one that tripped and stumbled? Empathy* is a much better option. I was walking talking to a teacher when I walked into a post, all the kids laughed but I didn't and none of them became my friends after that. (A great way to find out who your real friends are)

*Schadenfreude is the experience of pleasure, joy, or self-satisfaction that comes from learning of or witnessing the troubles, failures, or humiliation of another.

*Empathy definitions encompass a broad range of emotional states, including caring for other people and having a desire to help them; experiencing emotions that match another person's emotions; discerning what another person is thinking or feeling; and making less distinct the differences between the self and the other.

5. Never allow the arrogance of knowing stop your ability to be polite.

6. Of all the people that have walked past me in the street, by a quirk of coincidence many of them could have become my best friend. That's why I smile and wish them good day. (Do you know you will probably only have 3 absolute best friends in your life!)

7. I was wrong once but it was a mistake.

8. Never underestimate the power of simple people, especially when trying to enter a night club, a simple person in a position of power is a dangerous situation.

9. If you lack confidence start doing small projects that you know about and then do them to perfection, after that move on to the next project.

10. You are only on this earth once so make the most of it.

11. If you are given a second chance make sure it is the last one that you need. (ever).

12. Admire the people that you like but respect those that you do not, even if they are contrary to you, they still have something to offer.  You can learn something from everyone; my brain is like a parachute it works better when it is open.

13. If you wish to broaden your horizons you must first cross a street. If you can still see the shoreline go further.

14. A star points in every direction become a star and shine on everyone.

15. Don't make life so difficult, imaging getting backwards into a car with an open umbrella, isn't it easier to go forwards with a rolled umbrella.

16. We are all born ignorant, to remain so takes no effort, to develop ignorance is a skill we should avoid at all costs so at every opportunity learn something, because knowledge is free.

17. I was thick once but I'm better now!

18. There is nothing more frightening that the silence of a lonely house

19. Taking drugs is like swimming in a dirty sink, as the water empties the spiral gets faster and is invariably going down. Don't be a sucker.

The Way of love by me

There is always going to be someone for you to love, somewhere you will find that person, if you live and work in Leeds you will have 98% of finding someone to love, if you move to Sydney you will most likely find someone and if you live in and work in Auckland expect the same, you will fall in love at least twice in you life. Only you can survive emotional disasters, there is always a future.

Wedding Speech:

You can steal, lie and cheat because - you can Steal my heart, lie next to me all your life and cheat death and illness forever.

world

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving and revolving at 900 miles an hour. It's orbiting at 19 miles a second, so it's reckoned, the sun that is the source of all our power. Now the sun, and you and me, and all the stars that we can see, Are moving at a million miles a day, In the outer spiral arm, at 40, 000 miles an hour, of a galaxy we call the Milky Way.

Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars; It's a hundred thousand light-years side to side; It bulges in the middle sixteen thousand light-years thick, But out by us it's just three thousand light-years wide. We're thirty thousand light-years from Galactic Central Point, We go 'round every two hundred million years; and our galaxy itself is one of millions of billions

In this amazing and expanding universe. Our universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding, In all of the directions it can whiz; As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know, Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is.

So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure, How amazingly unlikely is your birth; and pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space, 'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth!

These are my thoughts about me

First thing to do is start by loving yourself, you know you will love your parents, siblings, spouse, children and your friends but really if you don’t love yourself you may struggle with other emotions.

Remember the world does not rest on your shoulders you are not Atlas and you do not need that pressure.
I worked on a vegetable store when I was 14 and this made me brilliant at mental arithmetic but I never quibble about prices or enter into bargaining with vegetable and fruit vendors. A few cents more is not going to break me, so why worry about it. If I lend someone $5 I don't expect to get it back! if I do great if I don't it's not worth the hassle.
Never stop anyone re-telling a story that they may have told me before, I tell a lot of jokes and the worst is the idiot that yells out “I’ve heard this one”, (insecure fool) so I stopped telling the elderly that they've already told that story many times. The story makes them walk down memory lane and relive their past, the telling of the joke gives pleasure to those who may not have heard it, even if they have, they know I am only trying to make them happy.
I worked in several bars and clubs as a waiter, I now leave my waiter/waitress a generous tip if deserved. The extra money might bring a smile to his/her face. He/She is toiling much harder for a living than I am so make someone smile it is infectious. I often try to get a waitperson to help me with the food order I just tell them "I don't speak Menu"
I have learned not to correct people even when I know they are wrong, I can honestly say I have never been right all the time! The onus of making everyone perfect is not on me. Peace is more precious than perfection and nobody is perfect.
I give compliments freely and generously. Compliments are a mood enhancer not only for the recipient, but also for me. I never, NEVER reject a compliment, I just say "Thank You.”
I am learning not to be embarrassed by my emotions, I smile more than I cry and it’s my emotions that make me human.
Friends are very important so I have learned that it's better to drop the ego than to break a friendship or relationship. My ego will keep me apart, whereas with good relationships and friends, I will never be alone.
I have learned to live each day as if it's the last. After all, it might be the last, that’s why its called the present today and the past yesterday live for today. There used to be a quote about that somewhere!
I am always trying to do what makes me happy. I am responsible for my happiness, and I owe it to myself because I deserve to be happy. Happiness is a choice and I prefer it to unhappiness so just consider all the times you were sad then work out what makes you happy and go with that. Remember there are more people in this world worse off than you.

I always understand that someone will be better at some things than I will be (play golf and you will understand) and there will always be a bigger car,  boat or jet plane so I remain cool when someone plays dirty to outrun me in the rat race. I am not a rat and neither am I in any race, take away the pressure and get on with who you are you are striving to be, that is the best you can be anyway.

I know my worth so I walk away from people who don't value me. They might not know my worth, but I do so I just move on by.
