Preamble:
I have created several tasks for this subject, you need to select only the ones you feel will suit your needs, the portfolio is possibly the most important. There are also two tests that should be used.
Rationale: Multimedia will introduce you to the broad range of software and hardware used in Upper School IT and Business subjects.
It will also help you understand how to use the complete “Technology Process” when tackling the practical problem-solving challenges found in any Technology & Enterprise subject.
Description: Multimedia is the perfect place to blend together your creative and artistic flair with your logical and systematic techno-thinking.
Students will explore digital photography and videography, and use webcams, scanners, microphones etc. to create fantastic multimedia including 2D animations, vector and bitmap graphics, interactive multimedia
presentations, movies, clay-mations, animated diagrams, concept maps,
photo morphing, photo imaging, audio files, web pages and simple graphics
programming.

As well as learning many new technical skills, students will become
conversant with the Design principles of good design and apply these to all tasks.

Entry Requirements: Basic software navigation skills; a commitment to applying the full Technology Process (investigating, devising, producing, evaluating) to tasks; the ability to think innovatively & creatively as well as logically and analytically.

There are several main tasks, they cover

Tutorials: - Power Point Portfolio, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Illustrator, Rave Soundbooth or Audacity, Flash

1. Buying A Gizmo (Word, research and internet search) alternatively presented as a web page or word document

2. Road Saftey animation

3. Famous Faces and My Avatar (Illustrator)
Photo Manipulation using Photoshop or any photo editing software

4. My Radio Show (Sound Booth or Audacity)
Audio creating, audio jingle and jaw talk

5. Around The World in 80 Clicks (Camera, Photoshop and Power Point)
Power Point world tour using photos of students in various world locations

6. My Portfolio (Everything in a Power Point Show or on a Web Page using Dreamweaver))
A portfolio is created containing all the student work

In these subjects I plan for 40 lessons per term based on 40 minute time frame per lesson, I start each week as follows:

Day 1 lesson and how to use software,

Day 2 lesson development students working the software,

Day 3 Students begin assignment,

Day 4 Students work on assignment

Each task is given three - four weeks to complete

Week 1 - 2 learning the task and skills (Inspiration & Internet search)
Week 3 - 4 creating assignment 1 & 2 (Gizmo & Technology Process)
Week 5 - 6 Homework and test - working on assignments - marking
Week 7 - 8 Next skill set (Illustrator) (Camera required)
Week 9 - 10 Second assignment (Famous Faces & My Avatar cartoon face)

Task 2 Famous Faces	Introduction to Y10 Multimedia

Prerequisite Access to computer and Internet facilities at home would be an advantage, but not essential.

Task 3 Cartoon Face

Original image of Frances O'Connor I actually took on this as a contract through my Graphic Design days, Ms O'Connor required a full face photo but only had one with her hair chopped off. In the middle image you can see where I have cloned the hair back onto Ms O'Connor. The finished image was used in the poster for the movie Mansfield Park I created the final image using photoshop, I often gave this task to multimedia students who showed some skills in image manipulation as an extra worksheet.

I try to make Multimedia encompass a range of skills including making posters, creating and manipulating images, making a radio jingle and playing with creative software. Students create a Power Point Portfolio of all work, a sample is below which will cover most topics.
